Kin Canada Bursaries
This year’s bursary recipients will soon be announced and Club Presidents of the successful
applicants will be notified by phone in May. Another 28 deserving students will be selected to
receive the $1,000 bursaries and this year also saw 10 additional Preferred Bursaries granted to clubs
that made the minimum required donation.

This was the first year for the Preferred Bursary incentive, where clubs donating $2500 in a single year
are automatically selected to receive a bursary if their applicant qualifies for the final scoring round. This
rewarded clubs for sizeable donations (7 clubs donated a total of $26,000) while increasing the total
number of bursaries available so that all clubs benefit.

After 15 years, Kin Canada Bursaries has assisted 686 students with their education. So far this year,
club donations of $49,450 have been received. Our goal for the year is $75,000 so please send in your
donation if you haven’t already done so.

In other news, we welcome two new trustees – Murray Yeadon (Melfort Kinsmen, D3) and Leanne
Melnechenko (Lloydminster Kinettes, D3), both of whom offer valuable skills and experience as well as
dedication to Kin and support of education. We received more applications than usual this year which
made the selection a little more difficult, but we are happy to see the interest from Kin and encourage all
members to consider applying for this very rewarding committee.

Kin Canada Bursaries is truly a remarkable program that all Kinsmen and Kinettes should be very proud
of. Your continued support allows us to continue “Serving the Student’s Greatest Need”.
